Notre Dame Basketball 2007-08: Thumb-Bumber! Harangody hurts hand

Friday, October 19, 2007

Looking for good news—any good news on the Notre Dame sports scene. I am instead confronted with a dreadful basketball press release about the Irish's Luke "the Galloping Galoot" Harangody. The ND Big East All-Rookie team forward, who averaged 11.2 points and 6.2 rebounds last season tore a ligament in his right thumb during practice Wednesday, putting the 6-foot-8-inch starter on the shelf, for a minimum of three weeks, at which time the injury will be reevaluated. While I hope this isn't an omen that the round ball team is headed for as rough of a start as their pigskin compatriots, losing the sure-handed Luke sure doesn't help.

Dear faithful readers & Fighting Irish Thomas fans:
Thanks for all the prayers and great e-mails; keep 'em coming! Also, know that I am not financially compensated for any of my online articles (including those on the Renew America site) so the existence of Fighting Irish Thomas is 100% dependent on you and the Lord. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated. --Tom O'Toole
