By now all avid Notre Dame bloggers know that Evan Sharpley is starting at quarterback, Saturday, against storied ND rival, USC, in place of Jimmy Clausen. Clausen, he of bruised hip and ego, will no doubt start at quarterback for Weis' Irish again some day, but for now, the die-hard Notre Dames are betting that despite being 17-point "dogs" at home, Evan can rally the 1-6 Irish to upset the 6-1 Trojans, run the table in the remaining to finish the season at .500, and at 6-6, earn Notre Dame a modest bowl bid. Then if Sharpley can lead the Irish to its first bowl victory since 1993, Notre Dame can still finish 2007 with a winning record, not to mention gain great momentum for 2008.
